Seven stages of judgment (wisdom)

Our happiness depends upon our judgment. Illness or health, intelligence or foolishness, happiness or misery all depend on our judgment. Judgment develops as life progresses towards perfection in the seven stages listed below.

1. Physical judgment

The mere awareness of being. It starts at birth and lasts a few weeks thereafter.

2. Sensorial judgment

The ability to distinguish between hot and cold and far and near. This is the law of duality in its nearest interpretation at a sensorial level. It starts a few weeks after birth and develops gradually.

3. Sentimental judgment

The ability to distinguish between love and hate, pleasure and pain. It starts a few months after birth and begins to manifest into our behavior. This is instinct.

4. Intellectual judgment

About two years after birth we begin to distinguish between the pairs of opposites in all phenomena. Bad and good, beautiful and ugly, food and poison, just and unjust.

5. Social judgment

This is the beginning of social judgment. It begins to envelope morals. We begin to display and utilize socially-learned values. This is unique to human beings. Animals in nature do not need this.

6. Ideological judgment

This is the beginning of dialectical principles. The beginning of philosophical principles. This is the stage where regional differences begin to come into play. Our climate, our environment, our traditional foods and other surroundings all play a roll into who we are.

7. Absolute and universal love

This the beginning of metaphysics and spiritualism. We begin to wonder about the meaning of our existence and about the universe and all creation. Here is where we feel that all of our questions have been answered. Universal love develops at this stage. The inclusion and acceptance of all pairs of opposites is the ultimate understanding of the universe. Until we reach that stage we are often unhappy.
