Quotes of Wisdom
Christmas Humphreys
from his book concentration and meditation:
Health depends on the purity of blood. The blood supply needs oxygen and
certain chemicals. Oxygen is taken from the air; the chemicals are
contained in food. remember that the sole biological purpose of our many
and varied meals is to supply the body with the raw materials with which
it renews expended tissue and keeps itself at an even temperature.
Do not let your habits become too fixed.
The perfectly trained body can eat anything or go without. If you should
be forced to eat what you do not like, or to overeat, do so cheerfully,
and the next day eat nothing at all until nature has restored her
equilibrium. It is far better to accommodate yourself to environment
than to make yourself a nuisance to your friends and a laughing stock to
those who are all too ready to judge a man by his inessentials.
and from
his book Walk on:
Action and reaction
are equal and opposite. From heaven to earth there hangs a pendulum, and
he who pushes the pendulum must suffer the swing back until the
disturbed equilibrium is restored. This is the law which the east calls
karma, the law that in every act there is its own reaction.
Henry G. Bieler, MD

makes seems to be imperfect.
As civilized man's diet gradually became more unnatural he began to
suffer not only from disturbances of fat metabolism but also from
carbohydrate and protein indigestion, resulting in a general toxemia of
the blood. This is the primary cause of many, perhaps all, diseases.
Yet pain, from a mere twinge to the most exquisite torture of a kidney
stone, is the body's best protective device. For example, it makes you
keep a broken arm quiet so that your body can get to work.
Herman Aihara
There is no factory in existence that can remove carbon dioxide from the
air, produce its own oxygen, and then change the whole thing into
carbohydrate with the addition of a little sunshine. Yet this complex
process occurs simply and with little effort in a blade of grass.
George Ohsawa
Let us make our bodies healthy with righteous food.
We can thus enter into the miracles of the universe and enjoy a profound
eternal life.
From his play called
The magic spectacle (about how miraculous nature is)
No camera can compare with your eyes.
No airplane can compare your heart.
No building can compare with your body cells.
The world is big and you are young.

freedom and independence.
How wonderful life is if you apply this principle of life by yourself.
In the times of Jesus, Buddha and Lao Tsu, people did not
know this industrial poison called sugar. This is quite apparent because
they did not speak of it. But were they alive today, they would be the
first to advise us against it.
Happiness or misery, health or sickness, freedom or slavery-all depend
upon the manner in which we conduct our daily lives and activities. Our
conduct is dictated by our judgment. It, in turn, is a result of our
comprehension of the structure of the world and the infinite universe.
Brillat Safarin
You are what you eat.
Dhammapada
Irrigators lead the water where they will; fletchers shape the arrow.
Carpenters bend wood to their will; wise men shape themselves.
Letter of Master M. to A. P. Sinnett
I tell you a profound truth in saying that if you but choose
wisdom all other things will be added unto it - in time. |
